Your work environment at EXP
In this role, you will be a part of the Environmental team based in the Ottawa, ON office and have the opportunity to work with a great team.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

1. Conducting Designated Substance Surveys and/or stand-alone asbestos or mould surveys for institutional, federal and commercial clients/buildings
2. Providing engineering and technical support for projects involving the abatement of the aforementioned materials
3. Working closely with abatement and general contractors
4. Assisting with abatement inspections and completing clearance and/or perimeter air sampling during abatement programs
5. Analyzing phase contrast microscopy (PCM) air samples for asbestos using NIOSH 7400 method
6. Interpreting laboratory analytical results
7. Preparing written reports pertaining to site investigations and abatement

Potential for Expanded Growth in the Environmental Group and Ottawa Office

1. Completing field investigations (overseeing test pits and borehole drilling, soil and groundwater sampling)
2. Completing Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments
3. Completing Indoor Air Quality Assessments
4. Completing potable water testing programs
5. Working on large projects in concert with EXP’s building sciences group and using your HAZMAT knowledge to support other departments within the EXP office.

What your experience looks like

1. College Diploma in Environmental or Civil Engineering Technology or Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental/Civil Engineering or Environmental Science
2. Minimum 1-year experience as hazardous materials technician and/or related experience (additional experience is an asset)
3. Strong writing skills including the ability to write reports
4. Experience working in a client services environment with developed client service skills
5. Ability to work with multi-disciplinary groups as well as independently
6. Highly motivated and able to work well within a team environment
7. Very strong organizational skills
8. Bilingualism is an asset to help support our current client base
