Job summary

A prominent educational institution in North Vancouver is seeking a dedicated Harmonics and Choir Teacher for a part-time permanent role. This position will commence with the 2026/2027 school year, focusing on teaching students in Grades 2-8. Responsibilities include preparing lesson plans, evaluating student progress, and interacting with parents. Ideal candidates will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Music and/or Education, a BC Teaching Certificate, and experience with Waldorf Education.

Qualifications

Job description

Vancouver Waldorf School (VWS), located in North Vancouver, British Columbia, is seeking an Harmonics and Choir Teacher for a permanent part‑time position for Grades 2‑8. The available position will commence with the start of the 2026/2027 School year, with teaching days on Mondays and Fridays (subject to change).

The applicant must have experience in teaching singing, choir, pentatonic and diatonic recorder, percussion and basic music theory to children. Waldorf teaching experience is preferred, and the applicant will be expected to prepare and deliver lesson plans per the Waldorf and BC Ministry of Education curriculums. The applicant must have the ability to work with children with a range of abilities across the different age groups. In addition to teaching the Waldorf School Harmonics and Choir curriculum to students in Grades 2‑8, other duties will include:

Responsibilities
  • evaluation of student progress, oral and written report writing and parent meetings
  • parent interaction
  • recess supervision (negotiable)
  • attendance at school festivals and events outside of regular teaching hours
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Music and/or Education
  • BC Teaching Certificate or ability to qualify
  • Experience with and/or knowledge of Waldorf Education

Teachers at VWS must be certified to teach in BC. If you are not a certified teacher but possess an undergraduate degree in your subject area or have completed your Waldorf Teacher Training, you can apply online for Subject or System Restricted Certificate for independent schools.
