Job summary

AVI Health & Community Services (AVI) seeks a part-time SAFER Nurse to join the Victoria SAFER Clinic team. You will work under the Clinical Nurse Lead and Nurse Manager to provide participant-centered primary care, harm reduction, and education for individuals with complex health needs and poly-substance use.

Responsibilities include assessments, referrals, and collaboration with community partners to support access to prescribed pharmaceutical alternatives and comprehensive health services.

Qualifications

• Licensed Practical Nurse registered with BCCNM.
• 1–5 years of full-scope nursing experience with poly-substance use and mental health challenges.
• Experience in supervised consumption/overdose prevention or harm reduction programs.
• Commitment to social justice, harm reduction, anti-racism, and anti-colonial learning.
• Experience working with diverse populations including Indigenous peoples, LGBTQI2S+ identities, sex workers, and people who use drugs.

Responsibilities

• Provide care and support for individuals with complex health needs and poly-substance use.
• Collaborate with SAFER team to support access to prescribed pharmaceutical alternatives.
• Assess, educate, refer, and advocate regarding substance use, mental health, sexual health, wound care, and general wellness.
• Develop and monitor individualized care plans with participants and community partners.
• Administer medications as ordered by physicians according to protocols.
• Engage in staff trainings, meetings, and community engagement.
