Job summary

Atlantic Towing is seeking a Chief Engineer for the Harbour and Coastal fleet. The Chief Engineer reports to the Captain and is responsible for the safe, environmentally sound, and efficient running of the Engine Room Department and the maintenance of all machinery.

Qualifications

  • Minimum certificate requirements for engine room leadership and safety.
  • Regulatory compliance and safe operating practices.
  • Experience with vessel maintenance planning and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure engine room watchkeeping arrangements and applicable orders.
  • Implement and maintain vessel maintenance program per regulations and manufacturer specs.
  • Monitor performance and maintenance of all machinery and electrical equipment.
  • Maintain vessel class machinery survey reports.
  • Supervise engine room personnel and conduct appraisals.
  • Enforce safety procedures and permit systems.
  • Report machinery damage or delays to Master and coordinate repairs.
  • Maintain engine room logbook and Oil Record Book.
  • Manage bunkers, lubricants, and spare parts for voyages.
  • Prepare periodic management and performance reports.
