Handyman/Maintenance Person

Tricycle Lane Ranches Ltd (TLR) has a tremendous opportunity for a full-time permanent Handyman / Maintenance Person to be based out of Cochrane, Alberta. TLR is the 25-year-old Property Management and Land Acquisition business for its sister company BURNCO Rock Products Ltd (BURNCO), a 112-year-old, international construction materials business.

Looking for a stable job in a great environment and tired of dealing with neglected, run-down assets? Here, you'll be a key supporter of our Building & Facility Technician, helping to ensure our locations stay in top shape! Our newly renovated mid-sized office building in northeast Calgary needs your keen eye to stay in pristine condition, while two private residences (Banff & Cochrane) rely on your maintenance expertise to keep them running smoothly. But that's not all - you'll also bring your skills to our other properties across Calgary, ensuring the equipment functions at its best and maintenance needs are met before they become problems. If you're a well-organized, fit, and a tech-savvy communicator who enjoys a mix of routine and variety, we've got the perfect stable role for you.

What You Will Be Doing

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Cochrane and Banff Property

  • Maintenance work such as minor repairs, filter changes, fence repairs and similar
  • Minor landscaping
  • Shovel or sweep snow from entrance-ways
  • Monthly Security System checks
  • Following safety procedures
  • Coordinating and supervising trades while they work on properties
  • Performing other tasks and/or general labour as required


Calgary Properties

  • Maintenance work such as minor repairs, filter changes, fence repairs, changing ceiling tiles as needed, paint touch ups and similar
  • Landscaping (self-perform or monitor others depending on scale of job)
  • Shovel or sweep snow from entrance-ways
  • Coordinating and supervising trades while they work on properties
  • Safely use tools like power washer, leaf blower and snow blower
  • Take fleet vehicles in for maintenance, seasonal tire changes
  • Clean vehicles
  • Conduct monthly emergency lighting checks
  • Support seasonal preparations and tasks
  • Following safety procedures
  • Performing other tasks and/or general labour as required


Requirements

What We Would Like From You

Experience

  • Experience in building maintenance, construction, and general contracting are assets
  • Demonstrated abilities diagnosing and repairing a wide variety of maintenance-related issues


Personal Attributes

  • Professional, positive attitude
  • Good problem solving and written/verbal communication skills in English
  • Must be a motivated person, able to work efficiently and effectively - both independently and in a team environment
  • Be reliable, trustworthy, and physically able to perform the role
  • Comfortable and confident working within a professional environment and tight timelines


Qualifications

  • Must reside in or near Cochrane or Calgary, Canada / Already permitted to work in Canada
  • Maintenance experience: 2 - 3 years (preferred)
  • Previous experience as a Millwright or Tradesperson would be an asset
  • Possess or be prepared to complete Standard First Aid certification
  • Possess or be prepared to complete Fall Protection certification
  • Possess or be prepared to complete WHMIS certification
  • Must have a reliable vehicle and a valid Driver's License to travel between Cochrane, Calgary Area and Banff properties as necessary


IMPORTANT: Applicant selected for hire will be required to provide a satisfactory Drivers Abstract as well as successfully complete a background check (which includes references & credential verifications, as well as a criminal record check, enhanced reliability security clearance, confidential security clearance), Drug & Alcohol, Fitness to Work test and be bondable.
