Job summary

Canada Pump and Power is seeking an Apprentice Millwright Mechanic (1st–4th Year) to join our Fort Saskatchewan maintenance team. The role focuses on inspection, repair, rebuilding, and maintenance of industrial pumps, engines and equipment in a hands‑on setting.

Earn practical skills under experienced tradespeople while contributing to safe, efficient operations. This position is based at our Fort Saskatchewan facility with standard 40-hour weeks and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Registered 1st–4th Year Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Apprentice preferred.
• Candidates with strong mechanical aptitude and relevant hands-on experience may be considered.
• Previous experience with industrial pumps, engines, or machinery is an asset.
• Valid driver’s licence with acceptable driving record.
• Ability to follow technical instructions and work safely under supervision.
• Must report to Canada Pump and Power facility in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, 7:30 AM start.

Responsibilities

• Assist with inspection, disassembly, repair, rebuilding and reassembly of industrial pumps and equipment.
• Support preventative and corrective maintenance activities on equipment and assets.
• Learn to identify worn, damaged, or defective components.
• Install and replace bearings, seals, shafts, couplings, gaskets and other components.
• Develop skills in alignment, fitting, measurement and assembly.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues under guidance of experienced tradespeople.
• Interpret drawings, manuals, specifications and repair procedures.
• Inspect and test repaired equipment to ensure quality and operation.
• Maintain maintenance records and complete work orders.
