What You’ll Be Doing:

You will be a valued member of the Retirement team at XXXXX, working in a dynamic environment where you will make a meaningful difference in residents’ lives. As a Guest Attendant, you’ll develop a deep understanding of your residents and their experiences. You will build relationships with residents and their families, offering support options and program choices that enhance their daily health and well-being. As part of a team, you will contribute to a culture focused on helping residents live fully every day.

The Guest Attendant reports to the Director of Wellness and supports residents with activities of daily living and housekeeping duties as assigned, always striving to provide exceptional service. The role may also involve supporting recreation programs across different locations.

You are expected to perform your duties in line with our core values, ensuring resident safety and demonstrating customer service excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living, including eating, dressing, transferring, toileting, hygiene, grooming, and bathing, following individual care plans to meet their needs and preferences.
  • Answer call bells and door alarms promptly, providing courteous service.
  • Transport residents to and from their rooms, activities, health office, and dining areas.
  • Complete laundry and housekeeping tasks as assigned.
  • Interact tactfully and courteously with residents and their families; report concerns or complaints to the supervisor.
  • Practice safe food handling during all food preparation and service activities.
  • Participate in resident admission orientation and transfer processes.
  • Collaborate with other departmental staff to ensure continuity of care.
  • Coordinate with outside agencies working in the home.
  • Communicate issues related to resident care or safety to the Director of Wellness.
  • Report incidents involving residents or team members and complete necessary documentation.
  • Engage residents in activities as required.
  • Maintain personal grooming and dress appropriately according to dress code.
  • Keep all areas of the facility clean and ready for visits.
  • Greet visitors positively and offer assistance.
  • Foster positive communication and relationships with team members.
  • Report incidents that may result in occupational claims or safety concerns and complete reports accordingly.
  • Follow health and safety policies and wear PPE as designated.
  • Maintain a safe environment following infection control principles.
  • Be familiar with emergency procedures and participate in drills and training sessions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    • Must have ‘Safe Serve’ certification and at least one year of dining room service experience.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Current CPR certification; guest attendant training recommended.
    • Experience with seniors and knowledge of aging processes.
    • Effective verbal and written English communication skills.

    Education:

    • Minimum Grade 12 education.

    Working Conditions:

    • Interaction with residents of diverse backgrounds.
    • Exposure to natural and fluorescent lighting.
    • Exposure to outdoor elements and variable temperatures.
    • Physical activities including lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, and standing for extended periods.
