What You’ll Be Doing:

You will be a valued member of the Retirement team at XXXXX, working in a fast-paced environment where you will make a meaningful difference in residents’ lives. As a Guest Attendant, you’ll develop a deep understanding of your residents and their living experience. You will build relationships with residents and their families, offering support options and program choices that enrich their daily health and well-being. As part of a team, you will contribute to a culture focused on helping residents live fully, every day.

The Guest Attendant reports to the Director of Wellness and is responsible for supporting activities of daily living and housekeeping services as assigned, while providing exceptional customer service. This role may also assist with recreation programs across various locations.

The Guest Attendant must perform duties in alignment with the organization’s core values, ensure resident safety, and demonstrate customer service excellence.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide supervision and assistance with activities of daily living, including eating, dressing, transferring, toileting, hygiene, grooming, and bathing, according to individual care plans to meet residents’ needs and expectations.
  2. Answer resident call bells and door alarms promptly and courteously.
  3. Transport residents to and from their rooms, recreational activities, healthcare appointments, and dining areas.
  4. Complete laundry and housekeeping duties as assigned.
  5. Interact tactfully and courteously with residents and their families, reporting concerns or complaints to the supervisor.
  6. Practice safe food handling during all food preparation and service activities.
  7. Participate in resident admission orientation and transfer processes.
  8. Collaborate with other departments to ensure continuity of care.
  9. Assist outside agencies working in the home.
  10. Communicate with the Director of Wellness regarding resident care and safety issues.
  11. Report incidents involving residents or team members and complete necessary documentation.
  12. Engage residents in activities as required.
  13. Maintain personal grooming and dress appropriately according to dress code.
  14. Keep all areas of the building clean and ready for visitors.
  15. Greet visitors positively and offer assistance.
  16. Promote positive communication and relationships among team members.
  17. Immediately report incidents that may result in occupational claims or safety concerns and complete reports.
  18. Follow all health and safety policies, wear PPE as designated, and maintain infection control standards.
  19. Be familiar with emergency procedures and participate in drills and training.
  20. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must have ‘Safe Serve’ certification and at least one year of dining room service experience.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Current CPR certification; guest attendant training is recommended.
  • Experience working with seniors and knowledge of aging processes.
  • Effective verbal and written English communication skills.

Education:

Minimum grade 12 education.

Working Conditions:

  • Exposure to outdoor elements and variable temperatures.
