What You’ll Be Doing:

You will be an integral part of the Retirement team at XXXXX, working in a dynamic environment where you will make a meaningful difference in residents’ lives. As a Guest Attendant, you will develop a deep understanding of your residents and their living experience, building relationships with residents and their families, offering support options and programs that enhance their daily health and well-being. You will contribute to fostering a positive culture focused on helping residents live fully, every day.

The Guest Attendant reports to the Director of Wellness and is responsible for supporting activities of daily living and housekeeping services as assigned, always striving to provide exceptional customer service. You may also assist with recreation programs in various locations.

It is essential to perform duties in alignment with our core values, prioritize resident safety, and demonstrate customer service excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living, including eating, dressing, transferring, toileting, hygiene, grooming, and bathing, following individual care plans to meet their needs and promote independence.
  • Respond promptly to resident call bells and door alarms, providing courteous service.
  • Transport residents to and from their rooms, activities, health office, and dining area.
  • Complete laundry and housekeeping duties as assigned.
  • Interact tactfully and courteously with residents and their families; report concerns or complaints to the supervisor.
  • Practice safe food handling during food preparation and service.
  • Participate in resident admission and transfer processes.
  • Collaborate with other departmental staff to ensure continuity of care.
  • Coordinate with outside agencies involved in resident care.
  • Communicate issues related to resident care and safety to the Director of Wellness.
  • Document incidents, concerns, and resident engagement activities accurately.
  • Maintain personal grooming and dress appropriately according to dress code.
  • Keep all areas of the facility clean, organized, and ready for tours.
  • Greet visitors positively and offer assistance as needed.
  • Foster positive communication and relationships with team members.
  • Report incidents involving team members and complete necessary documentation.
  • Follow health and safety policies, use protective equipment, and maintain infection control standards.
  • Participate in emergency drills and training sessions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must have ‘Safe Serve’ designation and at least one year of dining room service experience.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Current CPR certification; guest attendant training is recommended.
  • Experience working with seniors and understanding of aging processes.
  • Effective verbal and written English communication skills.

Education:

  • Minimum Grade 12 education.

Working Conditions:

  • Interaction with residents of diverse backgrounds.
  • Combination of natural and fluorescent lighting.
  • Exposure to outdoor elements and variable temperatures.
  • Physical activities including lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, and standing for extended periods.
