Job summary

Chartwell Stoney Creek Retirement Residence is seeking an Activities Attendant (Memory Care) for a full-time evening role from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM. You will develop and coordinate engaging events for residents, support daily living activities, and work with the Fun Manager to create meaningful experiences.

The role requires empathy for the elderly, experience in healthcare or hospitality, relevant recreation certification, and a valid driver’s license where applicable; CPR/First Aid and Safe

Qualifications

• Experience in healthcare or hospitality environments preferred.
• Ability to plan, organize and direct diverse social services and events.
• Empathy for elderly residents, including those living with dementia.
• Valid driver’s license and a clear driving record, where applicable.
• Current Safe Food Handler certification and CPR/First Aid.
• Certification in recreation or related field is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and run engaging programs for residents.
• Assist residents to and from activities as needed.
• Motivate residents to stay active and participate.
• Promote an active lifestyle within the home.
• Assist the Fun Manager with events and activities.
• Build relationships with residents and families to assess needs.
• Monitor and record resident involvement and satisfaction.
• Collaborate with colleagues to deliver services.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for an Activities Attendant (Memory Care). This role is responsible for providing assistance with the developing and coordinating of fun and meaningful events, activities and services that encourage an active lifestyle among the residents in the community and ensures the achievement of essential activities of daily living.

What You’ll Do

• Plan, prepare and run engaging and fun programs for residents
• Assist residents to and from the activity if required
• Motivate residents to be active and involved
• Effectively promote activities and an active lifestyle in the home
• Assist the Fun Manager in planning and developing special events for residents
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with residents and their families in order to identify individual needs, resolve issues and evaluate resident satisfaction
• Monitor and record resident involvement in the home
• Build relationships and work collaboratively with colleagues
• All other duties as assigned

What You’ll Bring

• Experience working in an environment in the healthcare or hospitality industry and working knowledge of activation programs and mobility restriction
• Relevant professional experience in recreation and/or equivalent certificate
• Ability to plan organize and direct the delivery of diverse social services, special events.
• Empathy for and understanding of the need of the elderly and disabled, including persons living with dementia
• Class G/Class 5 driver’s license with clear driver’s abstract (Applicable to Ontario/Alberta)
• Current Safe Food Handler’s certification
• Current CPR/ First Aid certification
