JOB SUMMARY:
Supervises staff engaged in non-professional programs such as personal care, self-help, social training, recreation, cleanliness, and related activities to promote residents' health and well-being; performs related work as required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversees daily operations of the group home, including health care, staffing, supplies, maintenance, and record keeping.
- Supervises personnel in providing personal care, ensuring residents' physical, medical, dental, psychosocial needs, and safety.
- Plans, organizes, and evaluates staff work, including hiring, firing, promoting, and discipline recommendations.
- Monitors employee attendance and reports issues to HR.
- Schedules staff shifts per regulations, ensuring coverage and emergency availability.
- Attends meetings, oversees goal implementation, and ensures timely reporting.
- Manages procurement of supplies and arranges repairs.
- Develops safety programs to prevent accidents.
- Supervises recreation and activities.
- Ensures staff adherence to policies and conducts training.
- Maintains financial records, petty cash, and gift cards.
- Handles discipline and escorts residents to appointments and activities.
- Provides direct resident care, including medication administration, following doctor’s orders, and documentation.
- Ensures safety during 1:1 supervision, maintaining line-of-sight at all times.
- Remains on duty until proper shift coverage is established.
- Maintains safety of exits and walkways.
- Communicates with DHS, DDD, and other agencies.
- Reports issues to the director, investigates problems, and suggests improvements.
- Coordinates services, attends meetings, and prepares reports.
- Prepares purchase orders and cooperates with inspections.
- Completes required training and certifications, including background checks and disclosures.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of training techniques for individuals with developmental disabilities and physical handicaps.
- Understanding of residents' physical, mental, and emotional needs.
- Knowledge of safety, sanitation, and household management.
- Administrative and office management skills.
- Ability to perform CPR, First Aid, and emergency evacuation.
- Physical ability to lift residents, move equipment, and clear walkways.
- Ability to develop and implement care and activity programs.
- Supervisory skills, including scheduling, evaluating, and training staff.
- Ability to analyze behavior issues and problem-solve.
- Effective communication skills and ability to prepare reports.
- Proficiency in computer use, including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to respond to emergencies and maintain safety protocols.
