Job summary

Taggart Construction Limited in Ottawa is seeking a reliable Deck Person/Top Person to support sewer and watermain crews across the region. You will assist ground crews, manage materials, and help maintain safety and workflow at trench sites.

Ideal candidates have civil construction exposure, the ability to work outdoors in all seasons, strong communication, and a safety-first mindset. A Working at Heights certification is an asset. Compensation is CAD 40.18–40.92 per hour.

Qualifications

• Experience on civil construction or sewer and water infrastructure is an asset.
• Ability to work outdoors in all seasons.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to stay organized in a fast-moving field environment.
• Safety-focused mindset and reliability.
• Working at Heights certification is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Support pipe layers and the trench crew from ground level during sewer and watermain installation.
• Manage the flow of pipes, fittings, tools, bedding, and other materials for the trench crew.
• Guide equipment movement, communicate with operators and crew, and maintain trench safety awareness.
• Keep the work area organized and productive through housekeeping and site support tasks.
