Job summary

Blue Mountain Resort in Ontario is seeking a skilled Groomer II to maintain skiable terrain using groomers, operating on overnight shifts in a fast-paced mountain environment.

The role requires Terrain Park or Winch Cat experience, teamwork and independent operation, plus several years of grooming background and heavy equipment familiarity. Join a collaborative on-hill team at Canada’s largest year-round resort.

Qualifications

• Valid G license in good standing.
• Able to work independently as well as within a team environment.
• 3+ years grooming experience.
• Previous experience with heavy equipment is an asset.
• Mechanical skills are an asset.
• Knowledge of resort winter terrain is an asset.
• This role is posted to fill a vacant position.

Responsibilities

• Terrain Park or Winch Cat experience is required.
• Operate in changing weather and around physical structures.
• May use specialized equipment such as winches or renovator features.
• Perform pre-shift circle checks and post-shift housekeeping and paperwork.
• Use GPS to improve decisions and efficiency on hills.
• Identify and report safety issues such as lighting, signage or poor surfaces.
• Maintain open communication with Snowmaking, Slope Maintenance, Patrol, Lifts, Terrain Park andEvents staff.
• Assist in training staff and back up Team Lead on Groomer Duty.

WHAT WILL I BE DOING?

Groomer II is an advanced level slope grooming position. This position is responsible for slope grooming using groomer vehicles and techniques that are essential to maintaining a skiable terrain at Blue Mountain Resort on time and to the highest standards.

• Terrain Park OR Winch Cat experience Required
• Operate in challenging situations including changing weather/conditions and working around physical structures
• Sometimes but not always utilizing specialized equipment such as winches or renovator features
• Perform pre-shift circle checks and paperwork - post shift duties including housekeeping duties and mandatory paperwork
• Work with a GPS system to improve decision making, increase efficiency and utilize when breaking down hills
• Recognize and report or repair potential safety issues including but not limited to lighting, signage, padding and/or poor skiing/ boarding surfaces
• Maintain a good working relationship and open communication with Snowmaking, Slope Maintenance, Patrol, Lifts, Terrain Park, Events and other on-hill staff
• Assist in training of new staff and ability to back-up Team Lead on Groomer Duty
