Job summary

South Country Co-op is seeking a friendly Food Clerk at the 13th Avenue Food Store in Medicine Hat, AB. The role focuses on delivering excellent customer service, stocking, and merchandising while following safety standards.

You will assist with inventory and promote membership benefits within a team environment. The position requires flexibility for full availability, including weekdays and weekends, and offers a supportive benefits program and opportunities for growth within the co‑operative

Qualifications

• Must be at least 15 years of age and completed Grade 9.
• Previous grocery or retail experience is an asset.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and perform physical tasks safely.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• High level of integrity and a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly and helpful customer service in the grocery department.
• Stock shelves, rotate products, and ensure proper product placement.
• Receive and unload deliveries accurately and efficiently.
• Maintain clean and organized aisles, storage, and display areas.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
• Assist with inventory counts and merchandising plans as required.
• Deliver excellent customer service by assisting customers, promoting merchandise, and ensure customer needs, preferences, and expectations are met.
• Educate customers on the benefits of membership in South Country Co‑op.
• Follow all safety procedures and company policies.
• Other duties as assigned
