Responsibilities

Greeters are responsible for welcoming and creating the first impression for guests. These individuals influence the overall restaurant experience through interactions such as providing table accommodations and offering menu recommendations. They may also be the final point of contact, ensuring guest satisfaction.

If you have experience as a restaurant host or hostess, your skills are invaluable for this role at Hyatt. Your restaurant experience will help you succeed as a Greeter.

Essential Job Functions
  • Deliver the brand promise and provide exceptional, friendly, courteous, and professional guest service at all times.
  • Greet and seat guests according to established standards.
  • Manage reservations via Opentable, walk-ins, and table assignments as directed.
  • Follow all telephone etiquette guidelines, using guest names and standard greetings.
  • Bid farewell to guests as they leave, following prescribed procedures.
  • Handle guest and internal customer complaints courteously and efficiently, ensuring satisfactory resolution.
  • Be familiar with all food and beverage items on the menu.
  • Utilize the restaurant point-of-sales and table assignment systems as prescribed.
  • Meet special guest requests whenever possible.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order at the entrance and greeter station.
  • Maintain the guest history system.
  • Collaborate supportively with colleagues and other departments.
  • Handle operating equipment and supplies carefully to minimize damage and waste.
  • Complete assigned side work and perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Other Duties
  • Report punctually in uniform with name tag.
  • Maintain personal appearance and hygiene standards.
  • Foster good relationships with colleagues and other departments.
  • Adhere to hotel policies, including fire, hygiene, health, and safety regulations.
  • Comply with Ontario and Ottawa legislation.
  • Respond flexibly to departmental changes and needs.
  • Attend training and meetings as required.
Visa Requirements

Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel cannot assist with work authorization.

Qualifications
  • Flexible hours, including long shifts; varying schedules based on hotel needs.
  • Ability to stand throughout shifts.
  • A genuine desire to satisfy guest needs in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements

Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, walk, use hands, lift up to 50 lbs, talk, and hear. Medium work exerting up to 50 lbs of force occasionally and frequently.
