Job summary

DiversiTree Plants Inc. in Chilliwack, BC, is seeking a full-time farm labourer to support nursery operations. The role involves planting, pruning, weeding, spraying, soil prep, and driving a work truck to various sites.

Experience is an asset; on-the-job training is provided. A valid driver’s license and ability to perform physically demanding tasks are required. Overtime and weekend work may be needed.

Responsibilities

• Budding trees
• Clean the crops
• Clear and collect brush and debris from fields and other work areas
• Greenhouse cleaning
• Remove manually all suckers and water sprouts
• Tie and secure plants
• Train trees to produce more fruit of higher quality
• Weeding
• Spray or dust plants with insecticides and fungicides
• Assist in pruning trees, shrubs and plants
• Mix and prepare soils
• Plant bulbs and seeds
• Pot and re-pot plants
• Transplant seedlings or rooted cuttings
• Apply fertilizers
• Report signs of insect or disease damage
• Dig up wrapping rootballs of trees and shrubs
• Water and tend to plants, lawns and/or gardens
• Clean work area
• Drive work truck to different locations

Requirements

• -Education: Some high school is required
• -Experience: Experience is an asset. On-the-job training will be provided.
• -Driver’s license is required
• -Experience using chain saw, mechanical sprayer, and light trucks are a strong asset
• -Must take direction and abide by safety rules

Wage

$18.75 per hour. 40 – 50 Hours per week

Important Information
