Job summary

Les Fermes Lufa / Lufa Farms is seeking a Greenhouse Aide to assist with daily operations at our urban farms in Montreal. No prior experience required; comprehensive training will be provided, including First Aid and jigger certification.

The role involves harvesting, crop work, and routine plant-care tasks in a hot, humid environment. You will work in a team with Plant Science experts on biocontrol installations, keep tools and spaces clean, and participate in weekend rotations.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required; full training provided, including First Aid certification and jigger certification.
• Must be physically and mentally able to maintain cruising speed during eight hours of physical labour in a hot and humid environment.
• Ability to work quickly and precisely without making errors.
• Great work ethic, flexibility, and attention to detail.
• Must be comfortable working at heights.

Responsibilities

• Harvesting veggies.
• Doing crop work (such as clipping, twining, deleafing, etc.).
• Participating in crop care and plant maintenance by performing routine tasks like seeding, transplanting, pruning, and leaf removal.
• Collaborating with Plant Science experts on biocontrol installations and maintenance.
• Keeping the greenhouse and tools clean and organized.
• Participating in the weekend checklist rotation.

At Lufa Farms, we’re on a mission to create a better food system, and with six urban farms (and counting!) producing veg year-round, we’re looking for motivated and hardworking folks to help us with daily operations. This position doesn’t require previous experience, and full training will be provided, including First Aid certification and jigger certification. Being a Greenhouse Aide is physically demanding – you’ll be getting your hands dirty daily by harvesting veggies, doing crop work, and participating in crop care, among other labour tasks. You’ll thrive in this position if you’re comfortable spending the day working hard in a hot and humid environment.

• Harvesting veggies;
• Doing crop work (such as clipping, twining, deleafing, etc.);
• Participating in crop care and plant maintenance by performing routine tasks like seeding, transplanting, pruning, and leaf removal - ensuring a plentiful and top-quality yield;
• Collaborating with our Plant Science experts on biocontrol installations and maintenance;
• Keeping the greenhouse and tools clean and organized;
• Participating in the weekend checklist rotation.

Schedule

• Full Time: 7 am to 3:30 pm (40-45 hours/week);
