Job summary

Rogers Foods Ltd. in Armstrong, BC is seeking a Grain Assistant to provide logistic and administrative support for the Armstrong division grain operations by coordinating shipments, maintaining schedules, managing grain inventory levels, and ensuring consistent grain quality.

The incumbent assists in identifying improvements to department policies and procedures while supporting daily grain and byproduct logistics activities in a fast-paced agricultural environment.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Grain experience.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office; D365 is an asset.
  • Strong work ethic with trust and integrity.
  • Excellent problem-solving, time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with troubleshooting grain issues to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
  • Create tickets for truck shipments, send advisements to carriers and suppliers.
  • Assist with coordination of truck movement to maintain inventory levels and grain quality.
  • Create purchase orders to allocate freight for truck and grain shipments.
  • Ensure all shipments are completed accurately and review AP documents for processing.
  • Assign loads to appropriate grain contracts.
  • Create and maintain delivery schedules for truck deliveries for the grain department.
  • Liaise with internal and external customers and carriers, delivering excellent customer service.
  • Assist with daily reconciliation of the Company’s grain position.
  • Assist with byproduct inventory tracking and updates to the byproducts schedule.
  • Assist and recommend improvements in department policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all by-products in Armstrong and Chilliwack are moved efficiently to prevent shutdown.
  • Assist with producing weekly shipping schedules for byproducts and notify changes.

SUPERVISOR: GRAIN LOGISTICS SUPERVISOR

WAGE: $60,000.00 -$80,000.00

GENERALPURPOSE:

The GrainAssistant provides logistic and administrative support for the ArmstrongDivision grain operations by coordinating shipments, maintaining schedules,managing grain inventory levels, and ensures consistent grain quality. Theincumbent assists in identifying and recommending improvements to departmentpolicies and procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assistwith troubleshooting grain issues to ensure smooth and efficient operations
  • Createtickets for truck shipments, send advisements to carriers and suppliers
  • Assistwith the coordination of truck movement to maintain adequate grain inventorylevels and ensure consistent grain quality
  • Createpurchase orders to allocate freight for truck and grain shipments
  • Ensureall shipments are completed accurately and review documents from accountspayable for processing
  • Assignsloads to appropriate grain contracts
  • Createand maintain delivery schedules for truck deliveries for the grain department

  • Adjustwork schedule to accommodate changing priorities and deadlines
  • Providerelief coverage for Grain Logistics Supervisor as required
  • FollowGood Manufacturing Practices (GMP’S) while performing job duties and tasks
  • Responsiblefor compliance with Canada Labour Occupational Health and Safety requirementsand company safety standards
  • Performall other work-related tasks assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Grade12 or equivalent
  • Experiencein grain
  • Abilityto work both independently and with a team
  • Advancedcomputer skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications,experience with D365 an asset
  • Strongwork ethic, with a high level of trust and integrity
  • Excellentproblem-solving, time management and organizational skills and demonstratedinitiative
