Campus Candids Graduation Foto by Collegiate Studios is looking for anyone interested in working as a Graduation Photographer. Our Northern California studio is in Vacaville, CA, near Sacramento and the Bay Area.
Photographers will travel within a 5-hour radius of our Davis Office for Graduation Photography Assignments. We are looking for photographers in the Sacramento Region, SF Bay Area, Kern County, Santa Maria, and San Luis Obispo areas.
Please only apply if you are willing to travel. You will carpool, meet other photographers, and work in a mostly independent environment. Our staff will train you on how we want the photos taken, but once the camera is in your hands, you will have the confidence to capture the image(s) we offer our clients. Having a vehicle and current insurance is a requirement.
Requirements:
- Requires traveling to the school sites to take photos as the students receive their diplomas.
- Must dress professionally.
- Must have reliable transportation and be willing to drive 2 or more hours to the job sites and carpool if necessary. When driving your vehicle, you are compensated .55 cents a mile from the Vacaville Studio to the job site and back. If you are carpooling, you are paid minimum wage for being a passenger.
- You must have current car insurance and have a clean driving record.
- Must have basic knowledge of how to use a Nikon DSLR camera and manual flash.
- Must be flexible on the days and times we need photographers.
- Must enjoy meeting new people and enjoy people photography.
Compensation:
- We pay $18 to $25 an hour for the photo assignment, plus .55 cents a mile driven, and 1 meal reimbursement at $8.00 per graduation.
- The pay will be adjusted depending on reliability, performance, and completion of the 3 weeks of graduation season.
- We will have bonuses for those who are committed to learning and producing quality photos.
- NOTE: Any graduation that is photographed out of focus which cannot be corrected, and was not a mechanical problem with the camera, will not be compensated by Campus Candids Graduation Foto, by Collegiate Studios. The responsibility of the photographer is to take clear and professional photos.
If you have experience in photographing graduations, we will have a Lead Photography meeting on Monday, April 28, and on Monday, May 12, 2025; both these meetings are mandatory. We will hold both the meetings at our Vacaville Studio from 4 pm until 7 pm. These meetings will be compensated if you are hired and work all 3 weeks of graduation weeks.
Please keep resumes short, for example, last employer and photography experience. If sending a portfolio, please only send photography work as it applies to on-location special events.
Job Details:
- Graduation photography hours will vary from 3-4 hours onsite. This includes setup of the equipment, location of the graduates when we take their photos, the pomp and circumstance at the ceremony, and the actual photography of graduates. This does not include travel to and from the graduation assignment or if the assignment requires an overnight stay. We photograph each graduate as they receive their diploma and as they exit off the stage. Both locations are predetermined before we start taking photos.
- We will train you and supply all the equipment.
- Photo Assignments will start on May 22, 2025, and will end on June 13, 2025; this is a temporary job and we do not guarantee any assignments. Most photo assignments will be on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays and the assignment times vary.
- If offered the position and you accept, we will ask you to commit to the following dates in May: 22, 29, and 30, and in June: 4, 5, 6, 7, and 12. For a few of our assignments, you will need to be available to start in the morning and last into the evening; these jobs are around 8 hours. Some of the jobs will require travel and an overnight stay, which is compensated.
- Other Opportunities: We will have photography positions available for the fall school photography season, which goes from August until October or December depending on if you are interested in taking photos in the studio. There are also other times throughout the year when we will have photography assignments. If you are interested, we will add you to the list of photographers to call on for future event assignments. If you would be interested in the studio position, please let me know at the training meeting.
Thank you.
