Job summary

Fort McMurray Catholic Schools is seeking a temporary Grade 6 teacher (1.0 FTE) for the 2026-2027 school year at Elsie Yanik Catholic School in Fort McMurray. Start date is August 24, 2026.

The role involves planning and delivering instruction, meeting with parents, and supporting student growth in a Catholic school environment. The candidate must hold a Bachelor of Education and be eligible for Alberta Teacher Certification, with a focus on building strong relationships and organized classroom

Qualifications

• Must be eligible for Alberta Teacher Certification and hold a Bachelor of Education.
• Strong relationship-building, flexible, organized, and deadline-focused.
• Able to work with students daily in a school setting.
• Prefer experience teaching Grade 6 or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Identify students' learning needs and plan instruction.
• Deliver instruction based on needs and provide a stimulating environment.

The Fort McMurray Roman Catholic Separate School Division is seeking a temporary (1.0 FTE)full-time Grade 6 teacher starting August 24, 2026 for the 2026-2027 school year at Elsie Yanik Catholic School.

Duties of Elementary School teachers may include but, not limited to, the following:

• identify students' individual and collective learning needs
• plan and deliver instruction based on student learning needs and special needs
• provide a stimulating learning environment in which each student can experience growth and develop to his or her potential
• help students learn appropriate knowledge, skills and attitudes.
• meet with parents
• evaluate and communicate student progress
• prepare and implement remedial programs for students requiring extra help
• meet with other professionals to discuss individual student needs and progress
• volunteer to supervise extracurricular and after-school activities
• attend meetings, seminars, and in-service training sessions.
