Job summary

School District No. 5 Southeast Kootenay is seeking a Grade 5/6 Teacher for Rocky Mountain Elementary School in Elkford, BC. This is a 1.0 FTE temporary contract starting Oct 26, 2026 and ending June 25, 2027, with on-site duties required throughout the period.

The successful candidate will have BC Teacher Certification and must possess degree/formal training and/or teaching experience appropriate to the Intermediate level as outlined in the posting.

• Preference will be given to applicants with BC Teacher Certification.

Responsibilities

• Teach Grade 5/6 classes at Rocky Mountain Elementary School, Elkford.
• Deliver instruction on-site for a 1.0 FTE temporary assignment.
• Align instruction with the Intermediate level requirements and posting specifics.
• Collaborate with school staff and participate in standard school duties.

Salary Range: The starting annual salary for this teaching position ranges from $70,392 to $119,187, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.

Job Summary

Grade 5/6 Teacher

1.0 FTE temporary contract, starting October 26, 2026 or upon completion of the posting process to June 25, 2027, or return of the incumbent.

Must have a degree/formal training and or teaching experience at the Intermediate level.

Please note that all work will be on site.

Please note: Continuing teachers will need to vacate their continuing assignment in order to accept a temporary assignment, unless the FTE is greater in the temporary job posting.
