Reporting to the University Secretary, the Governance Coordinator will provide support on governance processes and provide administrative and strategic support. This individual will ensure all governance processes are efficient, compliant, and align with institutional policy, procedures, and practice, and other regulatory requirements. This position will work with the University Secretary to provide governance related analysis and support to the General Faculties Council and other committees as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Provide the university secretariat functions for the General Faculties Council and its committees. Administer and align processes to support the governance functions, ensuring the processes align with institutional policy, practice, and any relevant regulatory requirements. Ensure governance processes are handled appropriately in all aspects.
- Provide advice to internal stakeholders on matters of governance and related policy and protocol.
- Advise the General Faculties Council and its committees on governance matters and facilitate the operation of committees established to conduct GFC business.
- Support the various aspects of the processes identified in the Collective Agreement.
- Monitor trends in post-secondary governance, as well as legislative and regulatory environment, and the potential impact on the institution.
- Support the privacy officer for the institution.
- Supporting CUE’s privacy policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, development, implementation, and maintenance of policies and procedures, monitoring compliance, investigation and tracking of incidents and breaches and information requests, and reporting according to policy and legislation.
Requirements
- Minimum of Bachelor degree in a governance or policy related field. A Master’s degree is considered an asset.
- Three years of senior administrative or governance experience, preferably in a post-secondary or related sector.
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation in privacy (PIPA), information management, and post-secondary education.
- The successful candidate will have excellent attention to detail, strong communication (written, verbal and interpersonal) skills, sound judgement, diplomacy and the ability to foster and maintain positive collegial relationships with various internal and external stakeholders.
- The ability to exercise initiative, work independently and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to assess situations and problem-solve.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately
- Demonstrated ability to analyze data and processes.
