Job summary

Mecka is seeking a Privacy Counsel and Data Protection Officer to own the privacy programme across all markets and capture models. You will maintain consent standards, oversee cross-border transfer frameworks, and work with engineering to bake privacy into product design.

You will independently advise on data protection obligations, monitor compliance, and serve as the main contact for data subjects and regulators globally, including managing outside counsel.

Qualifications

• Qualified lawyer admitted to practice in at least one jurisdiction.
• 5–8+ years in privacy and data protection practice, in law firms and in-house.
• Ability to perform the DPO function independently and with senior management.
• Experience advising on multiple jurisdictions, with cross-border transfers and registrations.

Responsibilities

• Own the privacy programme across markets and capture models, including processing records and retention schedules.
• Advise on data protection requirements, monitor compliance, and handle data subject requests and inquiries.
• Lead consent frameworks and update notices and disclosures across partners and vendors.
• Coordinate cross-border data transfer mechanisms and regulator registrations for each entity.
