A reputable mining company has a great opportunity for a Global Mobility Tax Specialist. You will report to the Manager, Payrolls and be responsible for Canada, US, and international cross-border tax matters.
This position involves conducting initial research on tax implications related to various jurisdictions where the company operates, working collaboratively within the payroll team to support payroll tax matters.
You will cooperate with third-party providers that assist with tax calculations in foreign jurisdictions.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare various Canadian and US payroll-related tax forms and waivers, including certificate of coverages, tax number applications, TD4 forms, Regulation 102, and T1213 waiver applications.
- Prepare monthly shadow payroll tax calculations and manage equity sourcing (PSU, RSU, RPU, DSU, and Stock Options).
- Research, coordinate, and implement payroll requirements for expatriate payrolls in new tax jurisdictions.
- Respond to correspondence from CRA and IRS, including notices, audits, and information requests.
- Reconcile payroll-related accounts, including year-end reconciliations.
- Stay updated with industry best practices and emerging trends in global payroll management.
- Collaborate with HR, accounting, and external advisors to ensure jurisdictional payroll tax compliance.
- Assist with audits and SOX compliance.
- Cross-train team members on tax knowledge and support professional development.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and tax laws.
- Support ad hoc projects and perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, tax, accounting, or business from a reputable university or college.
- Minimum five years’ experience in a public accounting firm specializing in global mobility compliance.
- Experience working with international payroll service providers and managing external vendor relationships.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, for report generation.
- Strong team spirit, collaborative approach, and experience in complex, fast-paced, international environments.

Compensation
