Job summary

CIBC's Calgary-based Energy, Infrastructure and Transition team is seeking motivated students for a four-month term in 2027. You will help deliver advisory and financing solutions for energy and infrastructure clients, joining professionals from Analysts to Managing Directors in a dynamic, relationship-driven environment.

On-site, 4-month work term with a base salary around CAD 105,000 annually and discussion of geographic and business needs.

Qualifications

• You are enrolled in an undergraduate degree in Commerce, Business, Finance, Economics, Mathematics /STEM or related and you are on track to complete your undergrad program no sooner than August 2027.
• Demonstrated interest in Capital Markets through coursework, clubs or related work experience.

Responsibilities

• Research and analytics – conduct research and develop insights on companies, industries and capital market activities across the energy complex.
• Project management – support active coverage and deal teams in origination and execution of advisory projects across mergers & acquisitions, divestitures, equity and debt financings, and strategic advisory/alternatives projects.
• Relationship management – gain exposure and develop relationships across CIBC's global capital markets franchise to drive a team-based approach.

When you join CIBC Capital Markets' Global Investment Banking team, you will be making a real difference to our clients by helping to provide customized financing and advisory solutions . With offices located in Canada, the United States, Europe, Asia and Australia, our Global Investment Banking group provides equity and debt underwriting as well as corporate finance advisory services to corporations and institutions through a number of industry and product groups. This is a great opportunity to be a part of a group of professionals ranging from Analysts to Managing Directors who are dedicated to advising clients on infrastructure and project finance and mergers and acquisitions.

The Calgary-based Energy, Infrastructure and Transition ("EIT"), Investment Banking office focuses on a broad range of energy and infrastructure clients that operate in the following sectors: oil and gas, pipelines, midstream energy infrastructure, renewable and thermal power, utilities, and energy transition / climate-tech. We support these clients with strategic advice, equity and debt fundraising, and corporate finance advisory services such as mergers and acquisitions.

The expected annualized base salary for this role is $105,000

The base salary is determined by a variety of factors, including the candidate's skills, experience, and job-related knowledge, as well as geographic location and specific business needs.
