Job summary

OpenText is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join the in-house HR, Litigation, Ethics & Compliance legal team reporting to the VP & GC. You will support global commercial litigation and software compliance while collaborating with HR and business teams.

The successful candidate will be a business-minded lawyer with 3–8 years of commercial litigation experience, licensed in Canada, and capable of handling international matters in a fast-paced global company.

Qualifications

• J.D. with 3–8 years of experience in commercial litigation, licensed to practice law in Canada.
• Experience and knowledge in software licensing and services, software compliance, privacy/security matters is advantageous.
• Fluency in English; additional European language skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage and provide legal support for global commercial litigation matters, including liaising with external counsel and participating in mediations, arbitrations, depositions, and trials.
• Advise on software licensing, services agreements, and privacy/security issues to mitigate risk.
• Collaborate with HR, ethics, and business teams to align legal strategy with corporate objectives.
