British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI) invites a Global Communications co‑op student/intern for Winter 2027 to support the Global Investment Communications team. You will assist research, content development, and strategic projects that tell the story of one of Canada's largest institutional investors.

The role offers exposure to digital marketing, media monitoring, and coordination of events, with the opportunity to learn how AI and storytelling strengthen audience

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Business, or a related field.
  • A basic knowledge of business and investment disciplines is recommended.
  • Experience with digital marketing communications and familiarity with MailChimp is an asset.
  • Interest in investment communications and a strong work ethic with ethics focus.
  • Genuine curiosity about AI and how emerging tools are changing communications.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook; familiarity with AI tools.
  • Familiarity with media monitoring platforms, design tools, or digital/video content production is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support a range of communication projects under supervision.
  • Develop communications materials to launch a new digital platform.

The British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI) is currently seeking a Global Communications co‑op student/intern for the Winter 2027 work term (January to April) to join the Global Investment Communications team, supporting research, content development, and strategic projects that help tell the story of one of Canada's largest institutional investors. THE Global Investment Communications co‑op will work within our Global Communications department.

This is a great opportunity for you to learn and apply your knowledge to support investment communications and strategic research projects that explore how leading communications teams are using AI and storytelling to build stronger audience connections.

The Global Investment Communications team works with BCI's asset classes and corporate functions to translate complex investment activity into purposeful narratives that strengthen BCI's position as a leading global investor. As a trusted communications partner to investment teams, senior leadership, employees and external stakeholders, the team ensures that how BCI shows up in the world reflects who we are: a purpose-driven investor built on the ability to get the deal done for beneficiaries today and tomorrow. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
  • Work under the supervision of the Manager to support a range of communication projects across the team
  • Develop communications materials to support the launch of a new digital platform
  • Research best practices in digital marketing communications
  • Support the production of written, digital, and video content for a range of audiences
  • Assist with media monitoring and reporting to track BCI’s coverage across priority publications
  • Support conference and event coordination for BCI asset class and senior leaders, as applicable
  • Partner with Employee Communications and The Creative Production Hub on initiatives
  • Contribute to ad‑hoc research, writing, and project support as directed by the team
REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Business, or a related field
  • A fundamental knowledge of basic business and investment-related disciplines is strongly recommended
  • Experience with digital marketing communications, and familiarity with MailChimp would be an asset
  • A demonstrated interest in investment communications, a dedication to hard work, commitment to the highest ethical standards, and an eagerness to learn
  • Genuine curiosity about artificial intelligence and how emerging tools are changing the communications profession
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely
  • Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy, excellent product quality, and attention to detail
  • Strong research skills combined with analytical and problem‑solving abilities
  • Ability to use Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook; experience with AI tools
  • Familiarity with media monitoring platforms, design tools, or digital and video content production would be an asset

  • Travel: if coming to Victoria for this work term, BCI will provide a fixed‑rate travel allowance based on your location

Office Location: 750 Pandora Avenue, Victoria, BC

Spend your off hours exploring beautiful Victoria and Vancouver Island

All co‑ops/internships will need to be completed in person at our Victoria office with the option to work one day per week from home. Please note, some positions are not eligible for hybrid work.
