Job summary

Leggett & Platt, Inc. is seeking a Commodity Manager in Canada to lead global commodity strategies for key components and raw materials.

You will drive cost and quality improvements while maintaining strong supplier relationships and cross-functional alignment. You will report to the Global Category Manager and manage contracts, supplier performance, and productivity initiatives, supported by advanced Excel, PowerPoint and database skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in financial or technical discipline; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years in category/commodity management with global responsibilities.
  • Manufacturing experience; automotive experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical, communication, interpersonal, written and verbal skills.
  • Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, and database/query skills.
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of global commodity strategies for assigned components and/or raw materials, delivering year-over-year cost and quality improvements.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key internal stakeholders; secure cross-functional buy-in and implement plans.
  • Execute contracts reflecting sourcing initiatives with appropriate terms and risk management.
  • Foster performance-based relationships with suppliers; monitor risks and adapt strategies.
  • Consolidate global commodity activities and ensure consistent strategy implementation across regions.
  • Support regional productivity actions related to commodity spend; evaluate feasibility and implement ideas.
  • Ensure accurate monthly tracking and reporting of commodity productivity actions.
