Job summary

RBC is seeking a Data Scientist for Transaction Monitoring in Toronto to develop and maintain AML/ATF monitoring solutions. The role focuses on identifying elevated risk, tuning models, and delivering actionable intelligence to support the Global AML program.

You will work with Python, SQL/Hive, and data visualization tools to present findings to senior leadership, while collaborating across business units and with audit, regulators, and model validation teams.

Qualifications

• Strong data, analytical, quantitative method and problem-solving skills.
• Expertise in analyzing and manipulating large datasets with Python.
• Proficiency with SQL or Hive databases and GitHub.
• Strong capability in exploratory data analysis and feature development.
• Experience with data visualizations to elaborate model performance with Python.
• Knowledge of Banking products is a bonus (Cash Management, Equity, Fixed Income, Commodities, Derivatives, Wire, Electronic ACH, E-Transfer, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and improve Transaction Monitoring solutions with data science techniques and related Model White Papers.
• Establish thresholds and parameters for monitoring solutions through quantitative and qualitative analysis.
• Present new monitoring solutions with clear visualizations to the Senior Manager, Global AML Transaction Monitoring Data Science.
• Collaborate with teams to identify opportunities and apply new technologies to AML Transaction Monitoring.
• Expand model coverage across Capital Markets, Wealth Management, and Investor Services.
