Join Tla’amin Nation as a GIS Technician in a part-time role, providing vital support in geospatial database management. You will work collaboratively with various departments, assist with technical GIS tasks, and contribute to essential projects that track cultural and infrastructural data. Ideal candidates will have a GIS diploma or certificate and a strong passion for data management coupled with respect for Indigenous cultures.
Position Summary
Job Type: Temporary, Part Time
Hours of Work: 20-30 hours per week based on operational needs
Reporting to: GIS Specialist
Department: Lands & Natural Resources
The GIS Technician will provide technical support to other works or projects via the GIS Department by answering inquiries, providing information and mapping products as required. This would be achieved through accurate population and maintenance of geospatial databases. Responsibilities will focus heavily on Tla’amin Nation’s (TN) Asset Management Inventory Database but may also include other work such as tracking Archaeological Sites, Preliminary Archaeological Field Reconnaissance (PAFR) locations, and assisting in the management of the Traditional Use Site Reconnaissance Survey database. The successful candidate will be comfortable instructing or assisting TN employees on GIS use by providing verbal and/or written instructions for specific GIS tasks that employees are required to perform in relation to their roles and duties.
Key Responsibilities
Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Tla’amin policies, standards, practices and procedures as directed by the GIS Specialist. Maintains confidentiality as required pertaining to members, clients, employees and general matters of the Nation.

Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Occasional travel to attend meetings or training is required. May need to be outside in various weather conditions for data collection.
