Job summary

United for Literacy in Geraldton seeks a Community Coordinator to lead literacy programs and partnerships in Northern Ontario. The part-time role (20 hours/week) reports to the Regional Manager in Thunder Bay and supports volunteers, interns and program delivery.

You will plan, deliver and evaluate learning activities, coordinate resources, and nurture relationships with schools and community partners. Flexible weekday hours with some evenings/weekends; based in Geraldton with occasional travel.

Qualifications

• 1-3 year’s experience in related field; post-secondary education preferred
• Knowledge of communities served, program planning and evaluation, partnership development and sustainability
• Experience delivering training material and fostering an inclusive learning environment
• Experience working with children and youth in educational settings with low-to-intermediate reading levels
• Excellent communication skills; comfortable speaking to diverse groups
• Able to manage multiple projects, demonstrate adaptability and time management

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one reading support to students identified by partner schools
• Attend community events and deliver summer programs
• Collect qualitative and quantitative data to evaluate programs
• Coordinate resources for program effectiveness
• Recruit, supervise and train interns and volunteers
• Design and deliver literacy-related workshops for staff and partners
• Build and sustain relationships with community partners and stakeholders
