Job summary

WSP is seeking a Geotechnical/Materials Technician to support field and laboratory testing for infrastructure projects across Alberta. The role involves outdoor work, data collection, and collaboration with project teams to ensure quality and safety.

You will conduct tests on soils, asphalt, concrete, and aggregates, prepare inspection reports, and travel to sites as required. A technical diploma and valid driver's license are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Geotechnical Engineering Technology, Materials Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
• Experience performing field and laboratory testing of soils, asphalt, concrete, and aggregates.
• Knowledge of CSA, ASTM, and related industry testing standards.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and travel to project sites as required.
• Commitment to health, safety, and quality performance.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.

As a Geotechnical/Materials Technician, you will play a hands‑on role in delivering field and laboratory testing services that support informed engineering decisions and successful project outcomes across transportation, industrial, commercial, and community infrastructure projects.

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $34.20 - $45.30 / hour

MB & ON: $31.20 - $43 / hour

NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $30.90 - $41 / hour
