Job description

Strum is currently looking to expand our Geotechnical team and has an opening in our Antigonish office for a Geotechnical Field technologist to join our team.

Responsibilities :

  • Adhering to Strum’s health and safety program and ensuring safety procedures and protocols are followed and improved / revised if / as necessary.
  • Materials testing on interesting construction projects including testing and sampling concrete, soil and asphalt.
  • Construction monitoring and inspection.
  • Geotechnical investigations including borehole and test pits.
  • Geotechnical laboratory testing.
  • Collection of accurate data in the field using various types of equipment.
  • Compilation of clear, concise, and accurate field notes.
  • Data tabulation and analysis.
  • Technical report writing for the above-noted projects.
  • Estimation of project budgets and assistance with proposal preparation.

Qualifications :

  • Willingness to learn and work as a member of a team comprised of biologists, engineers, and technicians.
  • Must possess a positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment to a high degree of detail.
  • The successful candidate will need to use their own vehicle for work travel purposes, have a valid driver's license and vehicle insurance, and be willing to travel to projects located throughout Atlantic Canada.

Eligibility Criteria :

  • Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.
  • A valid Nova Scotia Drivers License is required.
