Job summary

Stantec is seeking an Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer to join our Canada-wide team. You will work on important geotechnical projects for communities and infrastructure, combining field, lab, and design work to deliver sustainable solutions.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Geological, Civil, or Geotechnical Engineering (Masters or PhD an asset).
  • 6+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Professional engineer with Engineers and Geoscientist BC.
  • Knowledge of BC and Canadian codes, guidelines and standards.
  • Experience with GeoStudio, LeapFrog, Rocscience.
  • Able to work independently and in a team.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills.

Your Key Responsibilities What You’ll Do:

Our geotechnical practitioners work collaboratively to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions to our clients and communities on unique projects Nationally and Globally. As an intermediate geotechnical engineer, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Work on both interdisciplinary and geotechnical specific project teams, you will provide sound geotechnical engineering recommendations, with an opportunity to push your skills to the next level with an experienced team and demonstrate your ability to bring innovation to our field of practice.
  • Develop, promote, and maintain relationships with internal and external clients, as the primary point of contact;
  • Manage geotechnical projects of various sizes;
  • Lead proposals, make engineering decisions, and be responsible for the delivery of projects;
  • Work with more senior engineers to provide technical services in the field and office environments;
  • Provide mentorship and coaching to developing engineers;
  • Communicate effectively with clients, geotechnical and project team members and Stantec colleagues from across North America.
  • Promote strong workplace health and safety practices;
  • Represent Stantec in the community, with local geotechnical societies, and University settings to raise brand awareness.
  • Contribute to technical papers, conference proceedings, committees and technical working groups.
Education and Experience
What We’re Looking For:
  • An undergraduate degree in Geological, Civil, or Geotechnical Engineering (Masters or PhD an asset).
  • 6+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Registered as a professional engineer with Engineers and Geoscientist BC
  • Knowledge of relevant British Columbia and Canadian codes, guidelines and standards.
  • Experience with standard geotechnical software solutions (GeoStudio™, LeapFrog, Rocscience).
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Proactive approach and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Passion for making a positive impact through engineering.
  • Effective communication skills, including report writing and client engagement.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, continuous improvement and mentorship of developing engineers.
  • Commitment to technical excellence and mentorship. Active participation in professional associations and technical communities is an asset.

Pay Range:

Locations in Lower Mainland - BC, GTA & Ottawa Ontario-$96,500.00 - $139,900.00 Annually

Pay Transparency:

In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
