Job summary

Barr Engineering and Environmental Science Canada is seeking a geotechnical engineer to join our collaborative team of 90+ geotechnical engineers and geologists in a hybrid role in Calgary or Saskatoon.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of geotechnical experience, a P.Eng license, and proficiency with Geostudio, Rocscience, LPile, APile, gINT, BoreDM or FLAC. Travel up to 25% may be required as part of project support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in geotechnical engineering, geological engineering, or civil engineering with geotechnical emphasis.
• Graduate degree in geotechnical engineering is preferred.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in geotechnical analysis and design.
• Strong technical skills across geotechnical disciplines and some project management experience.
• P.Eng license or willingness to obtain one; authorization to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

• Field support: geotechnical field investigations, lab/test coordination, data analysis, and report support.
• Project management support: planning, coordinating, and updating project milestones and clients; assist with proposals and cost estimates.
• Technical analysis: engineering investigations and design under senior supervision from concept to design.
• Geotechnical and civil analysis: foundations, slope stability, seepage, settlement, earth retention, and dams design.
• Mentorship: training and mentoring junior geotechnical team members.
