Job summary

Barr Engineering and Environmental Science Canada is seeking a geotechnical engineer to join our innovative and collaborative team of 90+ geotechnical engineers and geologists.

The role offers hybrid work arrangements with Calgary or Saskatoon offices, up to 25% travel, and opportunities to lead field investigations, design support, and mentoring within a multidisciplinary team. You will collaborate with project managers and clients to deliver reliable geotechnical solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in geotechnical engineering, geological engineering, or civil engineering with a geotechnical emphasis.
• 5+ years of relevant geotechnical experience.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.
• P.Eng license or ability to obtain one.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship by Barr Canada.

Responsibilities

• Field support: perform geotechnical field investigations, assign lab tests, analyze data, and support geotechnical reports.
• Project management support: assist in planning, coordinating, and executing projects; prepare proposals and cost estimates.
• Technical analysis: perform investigation and design tasks under supervision from senior engineers.
• Geotechnical and civil analysis: design foundations, slope stability, seepage, settlement, earth retention, and dams.
• Mentorship: provide training/mentorship for team members.
