The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering, E.I.T. eligibility, and 0–3 years of experience, with strong writing and analytical skills and the ability to travel to remote project

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Eligibility for registration as an Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) with the applicable professional engineering association.
• 0–3 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Interest in geotechnical engineering and field investigations.
• Strong technical writing, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and support geotechnical site investigations.
• Supervise or assist drilling, test pit, and sampling programs.
• Log soil and rock conditions and document subsurface information.
• Coordinate geotechnical laboratory testing and review test results.
• Assist with geotechnical engineering analyses and design.
• Support foundation design, settlement assessments, slope stability, earthworks, pavement, and site development evaluations.
• Assist with recommendations for excavation, backfill, compaction, dewatering, and construction practices.
• Prepare borehole logs, technical calculations, figures, memoranda, and geotechnical reports.
• Support construction monitoring, field reviews, inspections, and QA/QC activities.
• Assist with proposals, cost estimates, scopes of work, and project documentation.
• Work collaboratively with civil, structural, environmental, and other disciplines.
• Communicate with contractors, clients, laboratories, and project team members.
• Follow health and safety requirements and site-specific procedures.
• Travel to project locations across Canada as required.

The Role

The Geotechnical Engineer will support CAP’s geotechnical and civil engineering teams with field investigations, engineering analysis, design, reporting, and construction support. The position will involve a combination of field and office‑based work and may require travel to project sites, including remote locations.

Experience with geotechnical investigations, drilling programs, soil and rock logging, laboratory testing, construction monitoring, Civil 3D, slope stability software, foundation design, or northern and remote projects would be considered an asset.
