Job summary

CAP Engineering (CAP) seeks a Civil Engineering Leader to join our Whitehorse team. This senior role supports project delivery, mentors staff, strengthens client relationships, and helps grow CAP’s civil engineering presence in the Yukon and Northern Canada.

The candidate will be a P.Eng. with broad civil experience and strong understanding of northern infrastructure, municipal, transportation, land development, and energy projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• P.Eng. designation required.
• Registered, or eligible for registration, with Engineers Yukon.
• Approximately 10+ years of relevant civil engineering experience.
• Experience leading civil engineering projects and technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and operational leadership for civil engineering projects and staff in the Whitehorse office.
• Lead planning, design, and delivery of civil and infrastructure projects.
• Manage projects from proposal through design, construction, and closeout.
• Provide technical review and QA for calculations, reports, drawings, specs, and deliverables.
• Support municipal infrastructure, transportation, drainage, site development, industrial, energy, and northern projects.
• Develop practical engineering solutions for northern and remote project environments.
• Manage scope, schedules, budgets, risks, and client expectations.
• Build and maintain client, community, regulator, contractor, consultant, and stakeholder relationships.
• Support business development, proposals, fee estimates, and pursuit strategies.
• Identify new project and client opportunities in Yukon and Northern Canada.
• Mentor and support engineers, EITs, technologists, and staff.
• Assist workload planning, staff development, and resource coordination.
• Coordinate with CAP’s multidisciplinary teams across Canada.
• Support permitting, regulatory approvals, tendering, contract administration, and construction activities.
• Participate in site visits, field reviews, and inspections.
• Support CAP’s health, safety, quality, and project management requirements.

CAP Engineering (CAP) is seeking a Civil Engineering Leader to join our team in Whitehorse, Yukon.

This is a senior technical and leadership role for an experienced civil engineer who can support project delivery, mentor staff, strengthen client relationships, and help grow CAP’s civil engineering presence in the Yukon and across Northern Canada.

The successful candidate will be a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with broad civil engineering experience and a strong understanding of project delivery in northern, municipal, transportation, land development, infrastructure, industrial, or energy environments.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation is required.
• Registered, or eligible for registration, with Engineers Yukon.
• Approximately 10+ years of relevant civil engineering experience.
• Demonstrated experience leading civil engineering projects and technical teams.
• Strong project management experience, including scope, schedule, budget, and client management.
• Broad civil engineering experience in areas such as municipal infrastructure, roads, drainage, site development, utilities, transportation, or land development.
• Strong technical review, design, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience preparing proposals, scopes of work, budgets, and fee estimates.
• Strong client relationship and business development skills.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and support junior and intermediate technical staff.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively within a multidisciplinary organization.
• A practical and collaborative approach to project delivery.
• A valid driver’s licence.
• Willingness to travel to project sites throughout Yukon and Northern Canada as required.

Experience working in Yukon, Northern Canada, remote communities, Indigenous communities, mining, energy, transportation, or northern infrastructure projects would be considered a strong asset.
