Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geophysics, Geology, or a related geoscience field; Master's preferred.
• 6+ years of experience in geophysical interpretation, preferably in Oil & Gas.
• Proficiency with seismic interpretation software (Petrel, GeoGraphix, Kingdom Suite).
• Strong understanding of seismic acquisition, processing and interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Interpret 2D and 3D seismic data to identify structures and reservoirs.
• Perform attribute analysis, velocity modeling, and depth conversion.
• Integrate seismic data with well logs and core data.
• Assess geological risk and uncertainty for prospects.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Geophysical Interpreter to join their exploration team, offering remote work flexibility. This role is central to analyzing seismic and other geophysical data to identify and delineate potential hydrocarbon plays. You will work with advanced software and large datasets to create subsurface maps, interpret geological structures, and assess reservoir potential. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with geologists and reservoir engineers, contributing vital insights for exploration strategy and drilling decisions within the Oil & Gas industry. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced geoscientist to make a significant impact from their home base near Kimberley .

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret 2D and 3D seismic data to identify geological structures, stratigraphic traps, and potential hydrocarbon reservoirs.
• Perform attribute analysis, velocity modeling, and depth conversion to create accurate subsurface maps.
• Integrate seismic data with well logs, core data, and other geological information.
• Assess geological risk and uncertainty associated with exploration prospects.
• Collaborate with exploration teams to define drilling targets and optimize exploration strategies.
• Prepare detailed technical reports and presentations on geophysical interpretations.
• Utilize advanced geophysical interpretation software packages.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Geophysics, Geology, or a related geoscience field; Master's preferred.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in geophysical interpretation , preferably within the Oil & Gas exploration sector.
• Proficiency with industry-standard seismic interpretation software (e.g., Petrel, GeoGraphix, Kingdom Suite).
• Strong understanding of seismic acquisition, processing, and interpretation principles.
• Experience with seismic attribute analysis, AVO analysis, and inversion techniques.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment.
