Job summary

The Government of Northwest Territories is seeking a Geomatics Data Coordinator to enhance interoperability and exchange of geographic data to support decision making across GNWT.

You will coordinate with NWTCG, manage the spatial data catalogue, and assist in administering GIS software contracts and licenses to maximize the value of geomatics services.

Qualifications

• University degree in computer science, remote sensing, or GIS with 2 years in spatial data management.
• University degree plus diploma in GIS or remote sensing with 2 years in related spatial data work.

Responsibilities

• Act as Client Liaison for the NWTCG.
• Participate in improving Geomatics Services within NWTCG and GNWT.
• Provide alternate administrator support for GNWT Enterprise Geospatial Systems and related apps.
• Administer the spatial data catalogue and NW Centre for Geomatics Website.
• Administer GIS software contracts and licenses.

Job description

The Department of Finance has the mandate to provide leadership and direction to the public service in all areas of finance and human resource management. Job Information

The Geomatics Data Coordinator is responsible for coordinating activities to enhance the interoperability and exchange of geographic data and information to support and enhance decision making effectiveness for the Government of Northwest Territories (GNWT) and to help maximize the value of geomatics services. By providing coordination and technical support, you will pursue activities that result in a collaborative approach to data discovery, acquisition, development and distribution within the GNWT.

Key Responsibilities:

• Acts as the Client Liaison for the NWT Centre for Geomatics (NWTCG).
• Participate in the ongoing improvement of Geomatics Services within the NWTCG and the GNWT.
• Provides alternate administrator support for the GNWT Enterprise Geospatial Systems and related applications.
• Administer the spatial data catalogue and NW Centre for Geomatics Website.
• Administration of Environmental Systems Research Institute and GIS software contracts and licenses.

Key Qualifications:

• A university degree in computer science, remote sensing, or Geographic Information Systems (GIS) with 2 years of work experience related to spatial data management.
• A University degree with a post-secondary diploma in GIS or remote sensing and 2 years of related work experience in an area of spatial data management.
• All other equivalencies will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
