Job summary

SSR Mining Inc. – Seabee Gold Operation in Saskatchewan is seeking a Geology/Geological Engineering Internship to gain real-world experience in field exploration and mine development.

You will support surface Resource Development Geologists, assist with core logging, sampling, mapping and data entry, and collaborate with technical services and mine operations teams. This role requires enrollment in a Geology or Mining/Geological Engineering program, familiarity with Leapfrog/MX and Microsoft

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in Geology or Mine/Geological Engineering degree or diploma seeking real-world experience.
  • Previous surface exploration or underground mining experience is an asset.
  • Leapfrog, MX Database or similar geological modeling software would be considered an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Provide field support to surface Resource Development Geologists with core logging, sampling, mapping, and sample processing.
  • Monitor surface drilling operations for safety, environmental and program execution parameters under supervision.
  • Provide data entry support in the office for Resource Development Geologists.
  • Support the broader Resource Development, Technical Services & Mine Operations teams as needed.
  • Assist underground geologists with beat, face sampling, back mapping and core logging; work with survey, ventilation, mine planning and rock mechanics groups.

SSR Mining – Seabee Gold Operation (SGO) is hiring for a Geology/Geological Engineering Internship.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Provide field level support to the surface Resource Development Geologists by helping with core logging, sampling, mapping and sample processing.
  • Monitor surface drilling operations for adherence to safety, environmental and program execution parameters under the supervision of the Resource Development Geologist.
  • Provide data entry support in the office at the direction of a Resource Development Geologist.
  • Be part of the broader Resource Development, Technical Services & Mine Operations teams and provide support where & when needed.
  • Other miscellaneous tasks may include assisting the underground Resource Development Geologists with the beat, face sampling, back mapping and core logging. You may be asked to assist other members of the Technical Services group as well (survey, ventilation, mine planning and rock mechanic groups).
Your Knowledge And Skills
  • This is a physical job. You will be on your feet and required to carry rock samples for extended periods of time.
  • You will work in multiple environments (outdoors, underground, office and core shack). Having the ability to adapt to the challenges presented by these environments is important.
  • Communication with all levels of the organization as well as third parties in spoken and written English in a professional and clear manner.
  • High attention to detail, strong work ethic and excellent organizational skills.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment with professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • A positive and proactive attitude towards teamwork and safety.
Your Education And Experience
  • Enrolled in a Geology Degree program or Mine/Geological Engineering Degree or Diploma program looking for real world experience
  • Previous experience with surface exploration programs or underground mining is considered an asset.
  • Leapfrog, MX Database or similar geological model software would be considered an asset
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
About Our Working Conditions

This position has a schedule of 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off at our remote camp which you will be required to fly in fly out with pick up points in Saskatoon, Prince Albert and La Ronge. This position will see you working in mostly a core shack or outdoor setting. Some time will be spent in the office and underground.
