Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in geology or geological engineering required.
  • Registered with EGBC as Professional Geologist (P. Geo) or ability to obtain.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills needed.

About Red Chris

Our Red Chris Mine, located in the heart of Northern British Columbia on the traditional territory of the Tahltan Nation. A short distance from Iskut and Dease Lake, Our fly-in, fly-out site offers access from various points across British Columbia and Alberta. Red Chris currently operates as an open-pit copper and gold mine with a promising future to transition to a high-value underground block cave operation. Purpose

The purpose of this role is to support safe and effective geological and grade control practices through hands-on training, technical analysis, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. The role actively contributes to a culture of safety, continuous learning, and operational excellence, in alignment with Newcrest’s values and standards

Essential Duties
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures with respect to geographical modeling and grade control
  • Populate databases and review data for production and reconciliation purposes
  • Support Production Geology team by developing daily feed plans and carry out chip logging campaigns
  • Support daily grade control activities by modelling blast movement and producing ore markup maps.
  • Research and analyze data and issues with respect to geological modeling and grade control
  • Data input tracking and reporting of daily production ore movement
Training & Experience

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree/diploma in geology or geological engineering.
  • Is registered with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC) as Professional Geologist (P. Geo) , or the ability to do so.
  • Advanced computer & geology modelling software (I.e. MineSight, Ore Pro 3D Excel, Powerpoint, Access, etc)
  • Strong communication, leadership, planning, time management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to record and maintain daily records

Desirable

  • Experience with grade control and production monitoring with porphyry style deposits an asset
  • Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures
  • Ability to effectively prioritize job dutie
