Job summary

Sansom Equipment Limited, a leading distributor and service provider for pumps, generators, and related equipment across Eastern Canada since 1964, is seeking a Generator Technician to join our service team. You will inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, repair and commission diesel and natural gas generator systems with a strong mechanical and electrical background.

Responsibilities include preventative maintenance, load testing, ATS troubleshooting, and on-site commissioning.

Qualifications

• Journeyperson certification or related trade experience.
• Experience servicing diesel and/or natural gas generators.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, engines and control circuits.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and technical manuals.
• Valid driver's license with clean record.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

SANSOM EQUIPMENT LIMITED has been a leading distributor and service provider for pumps, generators, blowers, valves, VFDs and packaged engineered systems for industrial and municipal applications across Eastern Canada since 1964.

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Generator Technician to join our service team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and commissioning of diesel and natural gas-powered generator systems. This position requires a strong mechanical and electrical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on standby and prime power generator systems.


• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, fuel, cooling, and control system issues.


• Conduct load bank testing and generator performance evaluations.


• Install, commission, and start up new generator equipment.


• Troubleshoot automatic transfer switches (ATS) and associated control systems.


• Complete detailed service reports and maintain accurate maintenance records.


• Respond to emergency service calls and provide after-hours support as required.


• Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company policies and industry standards.


• Communicate effectively with customers regarding equipment condition, repair recommendations, and maintenance schedules.


• Maintain company vehicles, tools, and diagnostic equipment in good working order.

Qualifications

• Journeyperson certification in Electrical, Industrial Mechanical (Millwright), Heavy Equipment, or a related trade, or equivalent industry experience.


• Experience servicing diesel and/or natural gas generators.


• Strong understanding of electrical systems, engines, and control circuits.


• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals.


• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.


• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.


• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
