Job description

MatchBox Consulting Group is looking for a Hospital General Superintendent in Red Deer, AB.

Our client, established in the 1970s, has grown into a prominent construction company with a focus on integrity, teamwork, and innovative solutions.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the Hospital project's success over its 8-year duration by managing all aspects of construction operations, coordinating with stakeholders, and maintaining a focus on safety, quality, and schedule adherence.

Responsibilities :

  • Lead the overall construction process, providing direction to the project team, subcontractors, and field staff to ensure the project is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of the project, from groundbreaking to final handover, ensuring all milestones are achieved. Act as the primary point of contact for on-site operations.
  • Utilize in-depth knowledge of hospital construction requirements, including healthcare-specific systems, safety codes, and regulatory compliance, to guide the project’s unique needs.
  • Work closely with the project management team, design professionals, and key stakeholders to resolve issues, manage resources, and ensure alignment on goals.
  • Champion a culture of safety, enforcing site-specific safety protocols, and ensuring compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations.
  • Manage budgets, labor, equipment, and materials efficiently while maintaining high standards of workmanship.

Requirements :

  • 15-20 years of construction experience
  • Proven track record of successfully leading multi-million-dollar projects from start to finish. (Experience in hospital construction or healthcare-related projects is highly preferred.)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large teams and manage complex, high-stakes construction environments.
  • Strong organizational and decision-making skills.
  • In-depth understanding of healthcare construction systems, processes, and code compliance.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and team-building capabilities.
