Job summary

Esfm- is seeking a General Manager, Facilities to oversee all building operations, maintenance services, groundskeeping, health and safety programs, and contractor management across multi-site facilities. You will lead budgeting, capital projects, procurement, and vendor relations while ensuring regulatory compliance and continuous improvement for service excellence.

The role requires 5–7 years of supervisory experience in commercial or multi-site facilities and a strong background in facilities

Qualifications

  • Degree, diploma, or designation in Engineering, Business Administration, Property Management, or equivalent.
  • 5 to 7 years of supervisory experience in facilities operations (commercial, institutional, or multi-site).
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, building systems, and project management.
  • Experience managing operating and capital budgets, procurement processes, and vendor negotiations.
  • Regulatory requirements knowledge: building codes, fire safety, sanitation, environmental health and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise janitorial, maintenance, and grounds maintenance services.
  • Manage preventative and corrective maintenance programs, including procurement and oversight of subcontractor services.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the implementation and compliance of health and safety programs and life safety requirements.
  • Manage operating and capital budgets, monitor expenditures, investigate variances, and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide leadership to facility staff through hiring, training, workload management, performance management, coaching, and disciplinary processes.
  • Monitor facility operations and service delivery, evaluate effectiveness, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop, review, and assess project plans, maintenance strategies, and asset management programs, including capital projects.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and codes, and maintain relationships with customers, contractors, vendors, and stakeholders.

The salary range for this position is $90,000 to $105,000. Final compensation will be determined based on relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, eligible employees may be entitled to other elements of total compensation, which may include group benefits, employer RRSP contributions, and discretionary bonus or incentive programs, where applicable to the role. We are committed to offering competitive compensation and comply with all applicable pay transparency legislation.   • Strong knowledge of facilities management disciplines including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, building systems, equipment maintenance, grounds maintenance, janitorial services, health and safety, and project management.
  • Proven experience managing operating and capital budgets, financial reporting, forecasting, contract administration, procurement processes, and vendor negotiations.
  • Demonstrated understanding of regulatory requirements including construction, fire safety, building codes, sanitation, environmental compliance, and workplace health and safety standards.
  • Experience leading capital projects, asset management initiatives, environmental and energy programs, KPI management, and operational improvement strategies.
  • Strong leadership, communication, planning, and decision-making skills with the ability to develop teams, manage priorities, and build positive relationships with staff, customers, and service providers.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, facility management systems, and the ability to interpret technical documentation, drawings, schedules, and operational procedures.
