About the opportunity

The General Manager will provide visionary leadership and operational oversight to ensure sustainable growth, financial strength, and organizational excellence. Reporting to the Portfolio Companies President, the GM will be responsible for the following:

Strategic Leadership

  • Provide clear strategic direction, building on the organization’s 65-year legacy while positioning it for long-term success.
  • Develop and implement strategic and operational plans that balance short-term performance with future-focused innovation.
  • Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive dynamics to guide proactive decision-making.
  • Oversee daily operations, ensuring efficiency, scalability, and continuous improvement across all business functions.
  • Maintain strong financial oversight, including budgeting, forecasting, and performance monitoring, with a focus on growth and cost optimization.
  • Apply disciplined, owner-like thinking to resource allocation and investment decisions that drive long-term value.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing senior leadership team, fostering a culture of accountability, trust, and collaboration.
  • Champion a leadership style grounded in humility, innovation, and coaching to build organizational capacity.
  • Uphold a culture of excellence, encouraging continuous learning, innovation, and the pursuit of best practices.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as the key liaison with the Advisory Committee, ensuring transparent communication and informed governance.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with customers, partners, and stakeholders to advance organizational priorities and impact.
  • Represent the organization with credibility and influence in industry, community, and partner forums.

Business Development & Growth

  • Drive business development initiatives that expand market presence and create new growth opportunities.
  • Identify and pursue partnerships, innovations, and customer-driven solutions that enhance competitiveness.
  • Balance operational excellence with strategic growth, ensuring long-term sustainability and customer loyalty.

Innovation & Change Leadership

  • Lead the organization through change with empathy, clarity, and focus on results.
  • Foster innovation across business lines, enabling new ideas while maintaining disciplined execution.
  • Leverage subject matter expertise within the organization to inform strategic and operational decisions.

Who You Are

You are a visionary and strategic leader with a proven track record of executive success, ideally within a complex, growth-oriented organization. You bring strong financial acumen and business insight, coupled with the ability to balance operational excellence with long-term strategic vision. You are naturally curious, resourceful, and driven to achieve the right outcomes.

You are a skilled leader of leaders, known for fostering cultures of trust, accountability, and collaboration. With a coaching mindset and an inclusive approach, you empower teams to achieve their best while encouraging innovation and continuous improvement.

A confident communicator, you excel at building strong relationships with boards, stakeholders, and partners, and are adept at translating complex strategies into clear, actionable plans. You bring an entrepreneurial, owner-like mindset, always seeking opportunities for growth, scalability, and efficiency.

You thrive in dynamic environments where change and innovation are embraced. By combining strategic thinking with operational discipline, you ensure both short-term results and long-term sustainability. Your ability to anticipate industry trends, leverage emerging technologies, and cultivate deep customer and stakeholder relationships is central to your success.

Express Interest

If you are a strategic thinker with a bias for action, have successfully led functions outside your core area of expertise, and are ready to shape the future of the turf industry, we invite you to express your interest.

Join Manderley and help lead us into a future of sustainable growth, innovation, and market leadership. We offer a competitive compensation package and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a growing, environmentally conscious industry.
