Job summary

Desjardins in Canada seeks an experienced executive to advise the general manager and caisse governance bodies on strategic directions and cross‑functional initiatives.

You will oversee project portfolios, prepare management and accountability reports, and help shape the caisse's salary budget and workforce plans, while representing Desjardins in the community.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of relevant experience.
  • French language proficiency required.
  • Knowledge of financial services cooperative operations.

Required

The incumbent advises the general manager and the management comittee on the caisse's strategies. He or she prepares management reports, including accountability reports for decision-making bodies. The successful candidate is also responsible for, or contributes to, other special projects and mandates. More specifically, you will be required to:

  • Ensure that different solutions from the Federation are integrated at the caisse level. Help to develop business strategies in line with Desjardins Group's strategic priorities and any issues facing the caisse. Conduct analyses and recommend solutions designed to minimize impacts.
  • Coordinate special projects and cross-sector files with high impact on the caisse.
  • Together with the general manager, oversee and lead committees, major events, special projects and activities. Coordinate communication and promotional activities.
  • Develop, create, and monitor projects and action plans from strategic priorities and standing business positions.
  • Monitor and analyze overall performance, and prepare management reports, including accountability reports for decision-making bodies.
  • Together with the general manager, work on the caisse's annual salary budget.
  • Plan human resources details for the caisse. Effectively manage skills development activities for management and non-management employees.
  • Represent the caisse and Desjardins Group within the community.

What You Bring To The Table
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • A minimum of six years of relevant experience
  • Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
  • Knowledge of French is required
  • Knowledge of current financial, economic, political and legislative news
  • Ability to analyze the consumer market, business leaders and the environment outside the caisse
  • Knowledge of all products and services aimed at caisse members and those offered by Desjardins business centres, components and distribution networks, as well as those of competitors
  • Understanding of the philosophy and inner workings of a financial services cooperative
  • Knowledge of policies, legislation, standards and ethics governing the operation of the caisse and its business centres
  • Knowledge of the Desjardins business procedures
  • Knowledge of high service standards
  • Knowledge of the democratic structure of caisses and Desjardins Group
