Job summary

Amentum seeks a General Maintenance Technician - Handyman to support daily office services, including moving and configuring furniture, assembling vendor-purchased items, and assisting with catering for meetings.

The role requires a high school diploma and at least three years in a corporate office setting, strong communication, and the ability to work overtime. Occasional local travel may be required, with strong attention to safety and customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Relocate and shift office furniture.
  • Assemble furniture from office supply vendors (PC carts, display racks, etc.).
  • Provide catering and refreshment setup support for employee meetings.
  • Provide feedback on issues needing outside assistance.
  • Perform carpentry tasks and repairs (sinks, stalls, fixtures, doors, locks).
  • Provide mailroom support as needed.
  • Collaborate with Office Services to support Building Services.
  • Restock pantry supplies and beverages as needed.
  • Conduct daily facility walkthrough inspections and report findings.
  • Perform re-lamping assignments as needed.
  • Maintain conference room readiness for daily use.
  • Work with Office Services to address unsafe conditions.
  • Monitor freight corridors for neatness and lack of clutter.
  • Assist employee relocation projects and move activities.
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting (non-licensed).
  • Provide preventive maintenance support.
  • Complete work orders through a CMMS.
  • Comply with company, OSHA, and site EHS policies.
  • Participate in safety training and incident reporting.
  • Maintain a service-oriented mindset in a corporate environment.
  • May travel locally to other locations for support.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor.

Job description

As a General Maintenance Technician - Handyman, you will be responsible for daily support activities, including:



  • Relocate and shift office furniture.

  • Assemble furniture purchased through office supply vendors, i.e., PC carts, display racks, keyboard trays, mailboxes, etc.

  • Provide support with catering and refreshment setups where needed for employee meetings.

  • Provide feedback on issues that require outside assistance.

  • Perform various carpentry tasks and repair work on restroom sinks, stalls, fixtures, cabinet doors, closet doors, locks, etc.

  • Provide mailroom support if needed.

  • Collaborate with Office Services to support Building Services operation.

  • Help ensure pantry supplies, snacks and beverages are ordered and restocked as needed.

  • Conduct daily walkthrough inspections of the facility and address/report accordingly.

  • Perform re-lamping assignments as needed.

  • Help ensure that conference rooms are well maintained and ready for daily use.

  • Work closely with the Office Services team to address unsafe conditions.

  • Monitor freight corridors to help ensure that they are neat and clutter-free.

  • Assist with employee relocation projects; provide necessary support during move activity.

  • Basic electrical troubleshooting (non-licensed).

  • Provide preventive maintenance support if needed.

  • Complete work orders through a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

  • Comply with all company, OSHA, and site-specific EHS policies.

  • Participate in safety training, toolbox talks, and incident reporting.

  • Maintain a service-oriented mindset in a corporate environment.

  • May be required to travel locally to other locations for support.

  • Other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor.


Minimum Requirements


  • High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.

  • Three years of experience in a corporate office environment or demonstratedequivalent combination of education and experience

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Ability to obtain a security access badge at client location.

  • Ability to read and understand information contained in a variety of documents or displayed on a computer screen.

  • Ability to obtain an appropriate driver's license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles, as requested.

  • This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.

  • Must be willing to work overtime when required.

  • May be required to work holidays and weekends.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail. Must be punctual.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, i.e., listening to customer needs, articulating path forward and giving solutions that provide value to the customer, etc.

  • Strive for quick complaint resolution; to resolve problems on the first call and avoid escalation of issues through operational knowledge.


Physical/Special Requirements Include


  • Regularly lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Regularly climb ladders, steps, and/or scaffold.

  • Repetitive motions: bend, stoop, squat, kneel, stretch, reach, and wrist movement.

  • Walk extensively throughout the facilities during shift.

  • Work at an accelerated pace in emergency conditions.

  • Ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding.

  • Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.
