Job summary

Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro is seeking motivated general maintenance personnel for Churchill Falls to support site operations. You will operate and perform minor repairs on a range of equipment, assist trade workers, and contribute to safety and upkeep of the facility.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma and completes scaffolding, confined space, elevated work platform, and aerial bucket training, plus a valid driver’s license with Air Brake Endorsement.

Qualifications

• High School graduation is required.
• Completion of scaffolding course is required.
• Confined Space course training is required.
• Elevated work platform and aerial bucket training is required.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license with Class 2, Class 5, and Class 8 and Air Brake Endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Operate and make minor repairs and adjustments to equipment (e.g., chain saws, brush cutters, lawn mowers, steam jenny, jackhammers, motorized snake, sanders/grinders).
• Perform cleaning, landscaping, loading/off-loading, industrial painting, garbage removal, and snow removal.
• Assist trade workers and perform asbestos abatement and erect scaffolding; other semi-skilled labour tasks.
• Operate all mobile equipment and perform other duties as assigned.

• You will operate all mobile equipment necessary in the performance of your duties and all other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need

• You will have High School graduation and be capable of performing semi-skilled and labour type tasks.
• You will have completion of a certified scaffolding course, confined Space course, and elevated work platform and aerial bucket training.
• You shall have a thorough knowledge of all trade related safety and operating regulations and must possess an appropriate valid driver's licence which includes Class 2, Class 5, and Class 8 with Air Brake Endorsement.
