Job summary

Ledcor is seeking a Maintenance Labourer to support heavy mining equipment maintenance on a long-term project near St. Lawrence, Newfoundland and Labrador.

You will assist Heavy Duty Mechanics with routine tasks, fueling, lubrication and checking fluid and oil levels, and keep the shop clean and organized. This role requires working around large mobile equipment, following safety procedures, and performing general labour to support the maintenance team.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a maintenance, mechanical, industrial or heavy equipment environment preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with basic heavy equipment components considered an asset.
• Strong commitment to safety and safe work practices.
• Dependable and able to work effectively as part of a maintenance team.

Responsibilities

ECM, a Newfoundland-based company, is seeking a Maintenance Labourer to join our team on an exciting hard-rock open-pit mining project near St. Lawrence, Newfoundland and Labrador.

Essential Responsibilities

• Support Heavy Duty Mechanics with routine maintenance activities on heavy mining equipment
• Assist with fuelling, lubrication and checking fluid and oil levels
• Identify basic equipment components, parts and maintenance requirements
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised heavy-duty maintenance shop
• Assist with moving, staging and organising tools, parts and maintenance materials
• Support equipment servicing and preventative maintenance activities as directed
• Follow established safety procedures while working around mobile and heavy equipment
• Perform general labour duties to support the maintenance team and daily operations

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a maintenance, mechanical, industrial or heavy equipment environment preferred
• Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with basic heavy equipment components considered an asset
• Previous experience supporting Heavy Duty Mechanics or equipment maintenance considered an asset
• Comfortable working around large mobile and mining equipment
• Physically capable of performing hands-on labour duties and working on uneven terrain
• Strong commitment to safety and safe work practices
• Dependable and able to work effectively as part of a maintenance team
• Valid driver’s licence and acceptable driver’s abstract
• Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol testing

Work Conditions

• 14 days on / 14 days off rotation
• Dayshift crew
• Overtime and shift premiums in accordance with the Collective Agreement
